Analysis: The upsets this weekend by East Haven over Orange has almost made it impossible for Orange to win the zone. Although Orange is not mathematically out of first place, it will still be pretty hard especially with Shelton playing Hamden for three games this week to end the season. The three games with Branford this week is big to see what the seeds will be for the Zone Tournament which will be held in Orange. Milford is tied with Orange in record, however Milford holds the tiebreaker due to winning the season series over Orange. So Orange needs to go out and try to take three from Branford and hope Milford loses a game to end up in second in the zone.

Game 16: Taking Two

New Haven came into the second game of the doubleheader looking to at least make its matchup with Orange somewhat competitive. Unlucky starter, Freddy Geisinger was heading to the mound for Orange facing New Haven's ace Joe Nagle.

New Haven broke out first in the top of the first. Dan Tilly knocked in Adam Burke with a single to take the early lead. Orange jumped back with three in the bottom half. A Steve Tamagni ground out scored Dave Wirkus from second base. A passed ball scored Conor Keniry and Joe Pisano would knock in Pete Testa. 3-1 Orange after one inning.

Orange added another run in the second on a Steve Tamagni sac fly. Pete Testa would have his second home run of the day in the third inning.

Geisinger was crusing through the New Haven lineup when in the sixth inning Cesar Guitterez hit a two run homer to deep left center putting New Haven back in the game, 5-3.

Orange quickly countered that with six runs in the sixth. Joe Pisano hit a grand slam, making it is third home run of the season. Orange defeated New Haven 11-3 in what was once a 5-3 ball game.

Key Stat of the Game: 2 Home runs by Orange for the second time this season (at Hamden)

Player of the Game: Joe Pisano, 2-4, Grand Slam, 5 RBIs

Analysis: Orange's bats finally woke up in the sixth inning of this game. What was a two run lead turned into a 8 run lead heading into the seventh. New Haven just doesn't have enough pitching or offense to beat a good Orange team. However the effort by New Haven was good. Game Three will be at West Rock Park.
